Visa policy changes for Workers


We signalled earlier the government plans to change the rules around work visas and make the process more employer driven (mandatory employer accreditation/registration in order to recruit migrant labour; significant hikes in minimum pay rates in some cases; upfront labour market testing etc). The new policy is now before cabinet for a final decision. The Minister announced on 23 August a decision is expected in around two months.
