Infringement notices cost employers over $520,000 in 2025

Immigration New Zealand has confirmed that 151 infringement notices were issued to employers in 2025, totalling NZD 520,000 in penalties.
The figures sit alongside ongoing post visa decision checks, accreditation reviews and labour market testing assessments. For employers using the Accredited Employer Work Visa framework, enforcement activity is clearly active.
While most employers aim to comply, many infringement notices arise from process gaps rather than deliberate wrongdoing. Incomplete labour market engagement, documentation issues, and misunderstanding of accreditation obligations can all create exposure.
For employers relying on migrant labour, reviewing internal processes, record keeping, and Job Check procedures before issues arise can help prevent unnecessary risk.
New Zealand Immigration Partners works with accredited employers to review compliance frameworks, documentation processes and labour market testing requirements to reduce risk and protect accreditation status. If you would like your current settings reviewed, our team can assist.
